KARACHI: Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has asked world boxing governing body (AIBA) to share with it the minutes of AIBA Executive Board meeting and AIBA’s ethics committee decision regarding Pakistan.
“Yes, we have written to AIBA to forward us the AIBA Executive Board meeting minutes and its ethics committee decision,” a senior official of PBF told ‘The News’ on Monday.
AIBA the other day rejected the PBF’s January 24 elections and asked the PBF and what AIBA calls its parallel body under Jehangir Riaz to jointly nominate two members for an ad hoc Commission within 15 days in order to hold fresh elections within three months.
Sources said that PBF cannot send its nomination as it has decided to contest the matter at various forums. Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) is one of the forums where the federation will contest its case.
A PBF official told this correspondent that in a couple of days a complete roadmap for boxing preparations for the 14th South Asian Games would be unveiled. The PBF plans to focus on inter-departmental competitions. The seven departmental teams will be joined by a team from four provinces.
The PBF plans to hold the National Championships as per plans. The PBF official made it clear that there is almost no chance for national fighters to contest for Olympics seats following the cancellation of world qualifying round which was scheduled to be held in Paris in May. “It’s very difficult,” the official said.
